Congratulations to all players who played in today knockouts at the 3 local footy grounds.
There is no denying it, and it's hard to say, but... HEATHCOTE HIGH SCHOOL ARE THE BEST.
Heathcote High School has had a very successful footy season in '08.
Heathcote High Under 14's won their Under 14's Grand Final on Shark Park with heaps of parents & friends and even NRL leading points scorer & Sharks Star Luke Clovell enjoying some good & fair schoolboys footy.
Heathcote were runners up in the Under 12, U 15's & Under 17's, the under 16 s team won the Under 16's plate cup last term.
Engadine High School sent 2 teams to compete in this years Cronulla knockouts and both the under 15's & under 13's both got into thier respective Grand Finals with the Under 15's defeating a gallant Heathcote HS on Shark Park to win this years Under 15's knockouts.

CRONULLA HIGH SCHOOLS KNOCKOUTS FOR U 13's, U 14's & u15's
The Big Questions for tomorrow's Cronulla High Schools knockouts is whether Endeavour sends their footy team or they send the boys who want to play footy.
Word has gotten back to the Endeavour coaches that the Engadine boys have been talking the talk after they got lucky against Endeavour in the Elite Schools sevens comp back in term one.
Endeavour Sports will not be sending their rugby league team, the Endeavour teams. The U 13's, U 14's & U 15's playing tomorrow will consist of kids NOT in the Endeavour Rugby League Program. "We have only won about 1 game in 3 years" said Mr. Howlett from Endeavour, "no we will not be sending any players from out TSP program"
Good luck to all schools tomorrow, see ya's at the footy.
Wooloware have a few of their players up at the snow on a school camp and other schools report they are ready. De La Caringbah are keen to play after their 16's won the 16's knock out a few weeks ago at Shark Park.
Games are to be played at 3 grounds, the Under 13's play at Endeavour SHS on the 'Field of Dreams', the Under 14's play at Capt Cook Oval & the under 15's get it on at Endeavour Fields.. - GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ! |

De LA played a very good game of footy against Bosco today at Captain Cook oval with only the Ref's continual interuptions and strange interpretations of the laws allowing a free flowing game
Both teams deserved the win in the end and the score of 20 - all a fair result. Well done to both team in very trying conditions.
Under 15 Development player Adam Thorogood converted a last second try to equal the scores, Bosco almost staged an amazing comeback, it was a great kick from the side lines and young Adam did good after a hard game and week of footy.

What a firey encounter this game was when De La salle played against the Como Crocodiles. De La held out a strong finishing Como to record a good win to keep their finals hope alive.
One of the highlights of the game apart from the all in brawl was the length of the field try to De La forward Joel Tubbs, Tubbsy can ran when he needs to and had to smash through two lines of defence and had enough steam to run the 80 odd meters to score a great try.
At this level of footy the boys have played enough games to have better disipline than was shown by both teams today and the blew was always on. The Ref in this case did a pretty good job controlling things right until the end.
The results was a send of, we won't mention name and a couple Como boys were given 10 in the bin for mouthing of to the ref.

Round 15 kicked off with De La Salle playing the Menai Roosters at Gwawley Oval with the Roosters a couple players unavailable due to injuries and the school holidays.
The Roosters faced an almost full strenght De La with the return this week of Reece Davidson & Andrew Montgomery and therefore had the luxury of players on the bench.
It was a good game of footy with scrappy passages by both teams and a couple brain explosions from a couple De La players.
In the end De La were good enough to take the 2 points to say in touch with the 2 top teams. MORE UNDER 15A's HERE |
DEVOLOPMENT GAMES END WITH SOME GR8 FOOTY
After a very busy school holiday Schedule the Sharks played their final development games against the mighty Balmain Tigers.
Today we saw 3 very good games of junior rugby league between these two sides and all 3 games were played with fantastic spirit, all the players respected one another which allow the footy move around the paddock with out interruption.
The Tigers under 13's are one HOT little footy side, they run the ball hard, back each other to the hilt and seem to be able to pass the ball in most tackles.
They like to score a few tries too with 3 players scoring doubles and a dead eye kicker who booted 6 from 6 before he was sacked to give someone else a go.
These slick little Tigers lead 0 - 34 at half time and went on with the job in the second half to beat the Sharks 8 - 44, young Sharks winger Ben Issa ran in two good second half tries.
The score reflex the effort the Cronulla boys put in in the second half restricting the Tigers to just 10 points, it was a fine display of footy by these little Tigers and all at the ground know the Sharks tried very hard.
The Sharks under 14's are a very well coached outfit, they play to their game plan and do a mighty jobs of sticking to it.
They run good angles, with players backing each other up in both attack and in D.
Young Robbie Nathan came off the field with a broken nose, it was bent over to the right and looked painful, good luck Robbie, in a few weeks she'll be right for a good pick. |
TIGERS COMING TO PROWL
The Balmain Tigers are coming to town with their Development squads to take on the mighty Sharks.
The Games begin with the Under 13's which will kick off at 10:00 am followed by the U14's, u 15's and then the under 17's.
So if you get the opportunity to have a sickie, come and support the local juniors tame the Tigers. |

SHARKS GET IT ON WITH BULLDOGS
The Cronulla Junior League hosted another great day of junior rugby league at Endeavour Fields today with the Canterbury Bulldogs sending 4 of their Development squads for four games of footy.
The under 13's were scheduled to play against a Bulldogs under 14's side, but that wasn't on so the Sharks U 14's other team took them on.
Unfortunately the Doggies were too strong in defence winning a very close game 6 - 10. Youngster Robbie Lightfoot ran in the local boyz only try, but well done to both teams.
Yousef Chosn, Johnny Wassif crossed for the visitors while Troy English kicked 1 outta 2.
In the other under 14's game the Bulldogs were again too good for the local boys, running away with the game in the second half to win 10 - 30.
Scorers : Sharks : Eddie Hickenburk 2 tries, Taylor Garrett 1 goal
Bulldogs : Chris Assad, Hassan Sobh, Luke Vella, Kane Poturu, Tapa Paul Goals : Chris Assad 2, Sala El-Dine-Rima
The Sharks Under 15's have continued their winning ways these school holidays by beating the Bulldogs 22 - 16.
Scorers : Sharks : Pat Edwards, Michael Lichaa, Chuppa Harrison, Joseph Drinkwater tires, Jack Sommerfield 2, Michael Lichaa 1
The Sharks U 17's played 3 20 min periods and at the end of the second period had a commanding lead of 8 - 34.

SHARKS BRAVE AGAINST WESTS MAGPIES
It was on again today when the Junior Sharks played four games of footy against the Wests Magpies Development teams at Endeavour Fields, Cronulla.
Well done to all you boys who played today and this week, there has been a lot of football lately and its not even the weekend, so suck in the air, get some rest coz it's all on again in 2 days.
The littlest Sharks can not be called midgets any more after the way they played today.
These little fella's all put their bodies and lives on the line for their team mates and team today.
The Under 13's had a comfortable 14 - 4 lead at half time only to see the Wests boys storm home with late charge and actually scored on the bell with a kick to come to draw the match, the kick went wide and the Sharkies held on for a very well played 16 - 14 victory.

It was good to see the two Rockys at the footy today.
Rocky Musolino, the St. George Dragons Development manager and his son Rocky came to referee a couple games and saved the day as there were no ref's scheduled to officiate.
Both Rockys did a fantastic job and so did the other young ref who was called in this morning at very short notice.

CRONULLA BOYS GET IT ON WITH WESTS MAGPIES
The Cronulla Junior League will today host 4 development games against Western Suburbs Magpies.
Traditionally West have plenty of big hard hitting footballers in their squads and the Sharks coaching staff are prepared for more of the same today.
The first game will be the Mighty Midgets when the Under 13's kick off at 10:00 AM. the Under 14's at 11:00 AM, the Under 15 at 12:00 PM and the last game of the day will be the under 17's who kick off at (yep, u guessed it ) 1:00 PM

SHARKS JUNIORS TAKE ON RABBITOHS
Story & Photo's By :
The Cronulla Junior League Development teams travelled to Erskinville Oval to play against the South Sydney Rabbits.
This is the first time since early last year all 4 development teams have played on the same team since the Penrith games in '07.
The 1st game was again the mighty midgets, the under 13's gave their other team a run today and they started very well, it was obvious that they have been training hard as they had some good little plays that worked real good.
Unfortunately the Bunnies were just a bit too good on the day and ran away with the game before half time.
The Cronulla under 13's were fantastic in the second half restricting the fast moving Rabbitohs to only 2 second half tries.
The final score was about 32 - 0 with the score 24 - 0 at half time. Well done to both teams.
The next game on was the under 14's who are coming off a good win over the Dragons on Monday night came across a well disiplined Souths outfit.
Tyron Phillips from the Bunnies crossed for 3 tries in Souths win over the Sharks.
The 2 Danny's scored for the Sharks when big Daniel Byrne smashed thru the Souths defence to score then little pocket dynamo Danny Azar recieved the ball whilst on the burst to runs 25 meters to score.
In the Under 15's game the Cronulla boys struggled to over come a big tough Souths side.
Stacy Morrell was one of the best for the Sharks scoring 3 tries, Hooker Daniel Small sneaked in from dummy half and Michael Lichaa ran around the bunnies to score a nice try too.
The Under 17 were competing well up to half time, the Sharks had trouble containing South fullback Tomas Leal who had scored 5 tries when this writer had to bail.
The Under 17's took their development squad up to Newcastle to get it on with other NRL development teams with mixed success.
In the 1 st game the Sharkies payed the mighty Penrith Panthers and in a very low scoring game the Sharks drew 4 - all (the only game the Panthers lost all day)
The 2 nd game was against a highly spirited Parra Eels, the Eels were lucky to get away with a 16 - 12 win, then the Sharks faced the local mob, the Knights go good at home and after another close game won 8 - 14.
In the next 2 game the Cronulla u 17's beat Manly 18 - 6 and in the last game beat the previously undefeated Tigers 6 - 12.

TWO OUTTA THREE AIN'T BAD TO BEGIN
Story & Photo's By :
The Sharks Development teams were in action again on Monday night at Beverly Hills Park.
This time the enemy was the St. George Dragons. Under lights with more than 400 footy mad spectators, and we watched three very good, well ref'd and fair games of junior rugby league.
The first teams up were the mighty midgets, the under 13 development sides suprised a few people with thier speed, skills and general play that in the end they smashed the Dragons to the tune of 34 - 0.
The whole team deserved the man of the match award, the points were shared by 6 different players and it was a shame when the game ended and 2 teams of excited little footballers came off the field with huge grims on their melons. Well done to all involved, yeah good on ya Joe, Noel and the team.
Next up was the Under 14's, most of these guys played together last year, they all get along real good & are well coached by Robbie and Paulie real well too.
There game was a fast one with little blokes rnning around everywhere, this team plays with structure beyond their years with every member of the team knowing him job inside out, they must be good listeners hey.
The under 14's ran away in the end, the score was 28 - 4
Then came the Under 15's. The under 15 squad had already played in the morning against the visiting Queenslanders, the Toowoomba Development boys were too good on the day and had their first win of their Sydney Tour with a 36 - 18 victory.
After a very tough and physical encounter, the Dragons were able to hold off the fast finishing Sharks to win in the dying stages to finish 28 - 20 victors.
This was a bit of a grudge match ater Rea and his Matty's Cup teammates beat the Dragons at OKI Stadium this year. hehe
Everyone put in during the game, no one was sin bined, so thats an inproveemnt too.
Bennett, Day, Drinkwater & Belford crossed & Alex booted 2 conversions.
Some of these boys backed up from the Toowoomba game which kicked off at 12:00 noon.
Not only had some of the players backed up, but so did the coaches Holzie & Wiggie, it was the Gorilla conection with Cronulla Sharks Media Manager Rob Willis running water like he loves it, and the parents backed up again too, so good on every one, go the Sharks and good on ya Ken Fitzgerald for once again arranging for the boys who put all this training together & get a game of footy.
Interestingly the St. George Under 15 dev side played the Toowoomba boys on Saturday and the Dragons one that by a fair bit, 48 - 18 or something.
The Dragons have some very good players in their development squad including NSW CHS U 15's player Jamie Stanley, his mates from Endeavour like Kiti Gylmin, Hayden, Joey, Chief and the list goes on. They are a pretty hot footy team when they are on.
Well done to all the Dragons players and staff, its always great to play against the Dragons, coz if you are going to beat anyone this year. |

VISITING TOOWOOMBA BOYS TOO GOOD
The visiting Toowoomba Under 15's defeated a Sharks under 15 development side today 18 - 36
The Queensland boys have been on tour in Sydney for over a week now and have been staying at the NSWRL Academy at Narrabeen with it's excellent facilities.
So far the young Queenslanders have had a rough trot here in Sydney, they started this years tour with a game against the Parramatta Eels u 15 De v squad on Sunday last wek and got smashed by the Eels.
On Monday the Toowoomba boys played the Winsor Wolves, another hiding, Tuesday they got flogged by the Bulldogs U 15 De v side. Wednesday the boys got to go to the State of Origin which would have made them happy with the result.
Thurday they played the Manly SeaEagles Dev side, another loss for the visitors. Friday MORE SOON

Engadine kicked a penalty goal after the fulltime bell to defeat Cronulla Caringbah, a 12 man De la Salle were much too good for Gymea and Aquanis galloped ahead of Menai.
The Engadine Dragons haven't sniffed a victory over Cronulla Caringbah at Endeavour Field for many years and now they have broken that hoodoo in round 13.
The Dragons were the better team on the day but just couldn't put the Sharks away, the Sharks kept biting back to counter every Engadine point.
Gymea have been the form side in the comp for the pat few weeks but their roll came to a big halt as Team Spirit kept De La in the game up to half time were the visitors enjoyed a small 6 - 8 lead at the break.
The 1st half was a mistake ridden affair, it was possibily the worst half of footy played this year with both teams dropping too much ball and only De La Salle completing 3 sets for the entire half. CHECK OUT MORE U 15A'S ACTION HERE |

We had two local Cronulla Juniors returning this weekend from NSW duties at the Australian Secondary Schoolboys Rugby League Championships in Brisbane and both boys played their last game on Friday.
Zac Wedersweiler played in NSW CCC's total demolishion of the ACT in the battle for 3 rd and Gene DuBois played for NSW CIS, but they got hammered.
Both boys conducted themselves very well, enjoyed the experience very much and played like all Cronulla boys, hard, fast & in their faces.
Zac & Gene will make a welcome boost on their return to play for De la Salle Under 15A's against the Gymea Gorilla's who have been in terrific form. |
JUNIOR LEAGUE CATCH UP GAMES
The Cronulla Junior League played 3 catch up game at Shark Park last night with two more games tonight and then 3 more next week.
The first game was an under 15a's game between De la Salle and the Gymea Gorilla's.
Gymea are the form team of the past couple weeks after their fantastic 2 point win over Competition leaders Cronulla Caringbah two weeks ago.
De la who have been plagued by injury this year stood up tonight to grasp a last second draw when Luke Manahan kicked a simple 43 meter goal to add the points to draw the match after a well deserved penality.
Gymea play good footy these days, they stick to a good plan, their plays are pretty simple, Jack kicks on the fourth or fith to keep the opposition away from their own line and it keeps oposing team on the back foot, if you let them, the Gorilla's will eventually wear you down.
Tonite we saw Jack Sommerfield go in for 2 really good tries and had the De la parents a bit worried (ha ha, parents, we've all got them) and young Ryan Willis is kicking well to convert 3 from 3 attempts.
De la scored more tries than Gymea which is a good sign coming to the business end of the season, but with most of its team almost playing, De la are looking forward to the finals and playing a few teams in the comp at full strength.
Engadine were again too strong for Menai as they scored a cold 18 - 8 win to keep wiining games of footy, Engadine are the scary team this year, on their day they are fast, full of it and hard to stop.
Oh yeah, there were a few spies from CC looking, looking tonight hey boyz. |

YARRAWARRA PUT BITE ON DE LA
The Star Studded Yarrawarra Tigers Under 17's stormed home in the 2 nd half of the clash with De la after a tight 1 st half.
The Weather was not helpful for fast flowing Rugby League but the first half was a beauty with both teams going try for try at Capt. Cook Oval on Sunday.
De la have their own stars in this team who played SG Ball for the Sharks this year, but just couldn't get on with the job in the second half in wet, slippery conditions, the Tigers ran away with what was in the end an easy victory, the home side yet didn't have the firepower or legs to catch the Tigers in full flight.
Scores were De la 10 - 38 Yarrawarra, good games from Chad Townsend, Haydn Peacock who both scored tries in the second half were well supported by their team mates. Next time De la
De La proved too good for the second placed Aquinas Colts in the 16B's to keep in touch with the top 4 with a good 20 - 10 victory. The De la 16B's are now only 1 game out of the four and a place in this years finals. |

What a great game, both teams played like little demons and at the end of the game the scores were 12 - all thanks to De la scoring a try right on the final whistle to make the score 12 - 10 with a kick to come. True enough the little De la kicker converted to make the scores even.
This was a fantastic game played in the spirit of Rugby League and all players are a credit to their team & footy clubs. The score was a good results from this top game. |

MUST BE A RECORD
Story By :
Great Rugby League stories are hard to come by these days, but De la Salle Caringbah certainly have a good news story to tell the world about.
The De la Salle Under 15A's have 3 NSW representitives playing for three different teams in this years Australian schoolboys Under 15's Championships in Brisbane at the end of this month.
Zac Wedersweiler a big & mobile front rower has been selected to play for NSW CCC under 15's
Reece Davidson a hard working second rower and son of former Cronulla legend Les, has been selected to play in the NSW CHS team.
Gene DuBois, another forward has been selected to play for NSWCIS.
When was the last time 3 kids got picked to play in 3 different teams to play each other at a National Championships?
De la Salle U 15A's coach Andrew McLennan is proud of the boys, "yeah i wish the boys all the best for the comp, they will go good up there ( in Brisbane)"
These 3 members of the De la Salle under 15A's will be playing against each other at the ASSRL Championships to be played at Wynnum in Brisbane starting on the 29 th June.
Zac Wedersweiler played at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday with his NSW CCC Under 15 team in their first 'Hit-out' together in a game against a Wests Development squad.
NSW CCC Under 15's will be playing another game against the NSWRL Harold Matthews Cup Premiers, the mighty Parramatta Eels. |

UNDER 15 A'S ROUND 9 WRaP UP
Something is in the air in the Under 15 A competition this year with all teams cabable of beating each other on their day.
Now all teams in the 15 A's competition have a victory under their belt after the Aquinas Colts were too good for De la Salle at Captian Cook oval.
The Colts are a good side, they play well against good footy teams & today they knew they were a red hot shot to take the 2 points.
The Colts started the game going forward and using their backs & scored first to lead De la Salle for the 1st time in a few seasons.
De la simpily ran out of troops with some guys on the bench having just played in B's game just before the 15's game.
The De la Salle players who played up were terrific, they got smashed by the more experienced Colts defenders and kept putting their hands up for the ball.
Taking nothing away from the Colts game, they were just to strong for De la today
Cronulla Caringbah continued their winning form and were too good for an improving Menai Roosters outfit to win a close game 22 - 10. This win cements the Sharks at the top of the pile so far this year.
Engadine Dragons out muscled a revigerated Gymea Gorilla's to record a ten point victory at the final bell 18 - 8. Dodgie is still out & the word is that he won't be sticking his thumb up at anyone for a while. |
