SHARKS GET MEDIEVAL ON DRAGONS
Congratulations to Cronulla Caringbah under 15A's who are now the 15 A 2008 PREMIERS after a big win on Shark Park today.
From when Michael Lichaa kicked the ball off at the start of the game the Sharks were at their best, they were fast off the line, hitting the Dragons with 2 and 3 man tackles everytime and not allowing Engadine to get the ball to their speedy guys.
Engadine didn't play their best footy today - MORE LATER & PHOTO'S TOO!
DE LA TOO GOOD FOR BOSCO
De La Salle proved revenge is sweet after defeating St. John's Bosco in this years Under 15B's Grand Final on Shark Park.
De La Salle only lost one game in 2008 and that was the 25 - 0 thumping Bosco gave the boys up at Sutho' oval 2 weeks ago in the semi.

THERE CAN BE ONLY TWO
Unfortunately there can be only two teams in each Grand Final and today at Sutherland oval we have 4 more teams that have gained that Honour.
Congratulations to Gymea who are now in the Under 13A Grand Final after they Kept De La to zero points.
The Sutho' oval curse struck again in the 14 A's when the Aquinas Colts played they game of their lives to smash De La 30 - 0.
Anthony Azzar was outstanding for the Colts scoring a hat trick of tries, Daniel Burn had a powerful game and will only get better.
The Colts full back had plenty of good runs and the 8 was good too.
The Under 15 B's game was transferred to Sutho oval and this time it was Sutherland who were having a had time finding the try line, Sutho played with gusto for the whole game but today they came across a hungry De La Salle who are into their 2 nd Grand Final in 3 years.
The last game at Sutherland Oval today was the much anticipated replay of last years grand final between Cronulla Caringbah and De La Salle
In a tough game were all players put their bodies on the line for their teams, it was the Sharks who came out on top this time beating De La by the slimmest of margins.
Congratulations to all teams that played at Sutherland Oval and also out at Boystown.
It is a magnificent achievement just to reach the finals in any comp.

SYDNEY SCHOOL EXACTS REVENGE ON HILLVUE
Story By :
HILLVUE Public School got caught by the quarter-final bug again in Sydney yesterday, falling a game short of the Legends of League semi-finals.
The Tamworth side repeated their efforts of a fortnight ago when they reached the quarter finals of the NSW All Schools finals, going down to St Bosco’s Cronulla at Granville Park yesterday 26 - 16 at the final eight stage.
It was sweet revenge for the Sydneysiders after Hillvue had scored on the bell to beat them in the pool stages two weeks ago.
Yesterday they crossed on the bell to push the scoreline out to the final 10-point margin, and then won their way through to the final.
Hillvue was battling by that stage with injuries, leaving them with limited numbers.
“(But) they beat us fair and square,” Hillvue team manager Craig McDonald said.
The Ray Berry-coached side had finished top of their pool after receiving a first round forfeit, convincingly beating Taree, drawing 16-all with Parramatta and giving North Coast a touch-up 34-6.
The Parramatta game was the decisive one, scoring late to “get out of jail”.
“It was a fantastic day. The boys had a wonderful time,” McDonald said.
“They met some of the legends of league and some of the Roosters players came down.”
There were several other Sydney club players present, with the boys returning with footballs littered with autographs.
“They’ve done a great job,” McDonald said of the boys’ efforts.
He said their defence particularly was outstanding yesterday.
“They’re so small compared to the other sides,” he said.
“Billy Nean was outstanding at half-back, Damien Berry was all over the field and Brodie Orr in the forwards was outstanding all carnival.”
McDonald also made particular mention of manager Jim Alley and local ARL development officer Damien Kenniff for their hard work. |
HEATHCOTE HIGH BLOW BIG LEAD
Yesterday the Kiama High School travelled up the highway to Heathcote for a CHS Buckley Shield match.
Heathcote dominated the game game right up to the last 7 minutes where they held a comanding 20 - 6 lead.
Bang, se7en minutes later the Kiama Boys had piled on a massive 18 points to snatch an unlikely victory.
Bad luck to the local boys and well done to the boys from Kiama
ENDEAVOUR'S BUCKLEY BOYS BOUNCE BACK
Story & Photo's :
Endeavour hosted Matraville Sports High School today for a NSW CHS Buckley Shield game today, the game was played on 'The Field of Dreams'.
Big Daniel Burn had an outstanding game for Endeavour and Tyronne Phillips the speedy Matraville fullback had an awesome game too,
Daniel Burn scored 3 of Endeavours 4 tries with hard running at the line
Endeavour shot to an early lead when the big fella Daniel Burn smashed his way to 2 tries to give the home side a 12 - 0 lead.
The Endeavour boys were down 12 - 18 at half time after some good play by Matraville resulted in 3 quick tries in the 1 st half to Tyronne Phillips, Dylan Walker & George Lolo. LEARN MORE ABOUT ENDEAVOUR SHS |

Australian & Cronulla Sutherland Sharks Super Coach Ricky Stuart visited Our Lady of Fatima Primary School this week to congratulate the Under 11 rugby league team on their fantastic efforts this year representing Cronulla at this years NSWRL All Schools Knockouts Carnival.
Our Lady of Fatima Under 11's rugby league team did the Shire proud after their historic State Championship victory over Hebersham Public School from Penrith to win 18 - 12
Ricky presented the boys with their own t-shirts for winning the local Cronulla Knockout and generally had a good laugh with the kids.

The Colts were almost awesome in today 1 st Semi Final against a talented Yarrawarra Tigers team.
The Tigers are a pretty good footy team themselves, today Aquinas were as good as they have been all year and now are stright into this years Big One.
The 2nd Semi Final was another one sided affair with Cronulla Caringbah racing in for 7 tries to 3 in a fast & furious display of Rugby League.
Como scored 16 points and played some good footy and didn't really deserve to loose by the 20 points they lost by.
The Sharks move onto next week for a super clash with a hungry Yarrawarra who could be without Toyota Cup hero Stewie Mills again as Stewie should be playing for the Sharks U 20 team.
DE LA SALLE IN BIG ONE
De LA Salle Under 16A's are into the 2008 16 A's Grand Final convincing 32 - 20 win over Como who never really gave up and lept trying to score right to the end.
Engadine Under 16 A's are into the Premiminary Final against a disappointed Como after De La belted the Engadine Dragons at Sutho' Oval.
If not for blokes like Aaron Bruce the Dragons would have lost by lots more, De La played very well and with 5 try scores, they spread the ball around and the forwards kept hitting the ball up lead by a powerful display again by Joel Tubbs.
Tubbsy was in everything including running from dummy like a cheeky halfback and gained plenty of meters and was well supported by James Hasson, Steeley, Jake, Blake and co.
So Engadine get it on with Gymea in next weeks Premiminary Final, this will be a crackerjack game with both team having a tremendous season.
In the Under 16 B's Minor Premiers St. John's Bocso had a comfortable 26 - 0 lead at half time and in one of the best come backs at Sutho Oval in years the Aquinas Colts piled on 28 second half points to win an amazing game of Semi Finals footy.
St. Joey were too good for De la Salle in the other 16 B Semi winning their game 36 - 10.
Once again we wouldn't be watching or playing footy if it wasn't for the ref's, for the most part most ref's did an excellent job under the pressure of finals footy around the Shire on the weekend, good on ya's ref's.

Story & Photo's :
Congratulations to all you kids that played and referee'd their way through 18 rounds of great local junior rugby league in the Sutherland Shire.
Some teams bow out now and some team kick on in next weeks finals for 2008.
This year all the different ages have been improving in all the comp's, this year the Delelopment teams played 6 or 7 games, with 18 round of footy plus some school games, it has been a long and hard season with plenty of injuries all over the Shire.
Once again we have had heaps of little players learning to play the 'Greatest Game of All', meeting new friends and getting out of a bit of school here and there.
Now we come the the business end of the footy season, it's all on the line now for all the teams that have battled all season for the right to play in the Grand Final.
So again well done to all u players, coaches, trainers, managers, mums, dads, sisters, brothers and friends for a great season of junior rugby league. Good luck to everyone. More Soon. |

DENFORD RECEIVES AUSTRALIAN TEAM CALL-UP
Story By : Sharks.com.au
Photo : ourfooty media
Sharks junior Jake Denford was this week called into the Australian Schoolboys team to play the visiting English Super league Academy side for a match to be contested on Saturday evening in Queensland.
Denford, from the Engadine Dragons club in the local Cronulla-Sutherland District competition, was added to the schoolboy’s side when back rower Dom Walsh was forced to withdraw after suffering a shoulder injury in the first match played last weekend.
The selection of Denford caps a stellar 2008 season, one in which he was named as the Sharks junior representative player of the year for his performances in the SG Ball competition, where he captained the victorious NSW Combined High Schools side to victory in the National Schools Championships and has since being pushed up into the under-20’s, playing strongly for the Sharks Toyota Cup team.
Denford was rated as unlucky not to have earned selection in the Australian Schoolboys side when it was first chosen, considering he was named as his team’s player of the series in their national championship triumph last month. He left for Brisbane on Tuesday evening to join the Australian squad.
The Australian Schoolboys play the English Academy side – the British Super League’s premier development team – at 7pm at Wynnum Manly’s Kougari Oval in Brisbane.
The match will provide spectators with a genuine look at the game’s stars of tomorrow, with many players from former Australian Schoolboys teams having attained NRL and Test status.
Current Kangaroos Justin Hodges, Greg Inglis, Israel Folau, Ryan Hoffman and the Sharks own Greg Bird are just a few of the big names to have turned out for Australian Schoolboy’s in recent years.
Denford will then remain with the Australian Schoolboys’ as they continue their 2008 campaign against the French Under-19 team in a match to be played on August 13.
The Australian Schoolboys defeated the English Academy 68-6 in the first Test played on August 2 at Dairy Farmers Stadium. |
